Bank Holiday Monday, 28th August

Vauxhall Springs Gardens

Organised by GMFA in partnership with the Royal Vauxhall Tavern

Every August bank holiday in London since 2007, hundreds of members of the LGBT community have been flocking to the Gay Sports Day at the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens behind the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. Money raised through team online sponsorship, auction, raffle and bucket collections go towards supporting the work of GMFA, Vauxhall City Farm and the Friends of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens

Teams of five willing contenders, often dressed in the most inventive, satirical, topical or downright outlandish costumes, from superheroes to hairy fairies (click on the photo links below for inspiration), compete in a bunch of sporting events, some of which you haven’t had to do since primary school, while others… well, register a team for 2017 and see for yourself (hint: click on the ‘instructional video’ links above and below and you'll soon get the picture).

Get involved in this year's event

Register your team of five competitors by emailing michael.flaherty@gmfa.org.uk. We ask all teams to pledge to raise £500.

Volunteering: do you have experience in event planning or stewarding? Is your address book bulging with celebrities that you could hit up for auction prizes? Can you make the links to get major sponsorship for this year's event? If you're interested in taking part in Sports Day 2016 through either volunteering or competing, please contact michael.flaherty@gmfa.org.uk
