GMFA – the gay men’s health charity
GMFA believes that health promotion for gay men is fundamentally enhanced when
community-members take a central role in the development and delivery of projects.
Volunteers contribute to the design and delivery of our interventions by joining groups within GMFA. Our current groups are organised to produce mass media health promotion, leaflets, a magazine, a portfolio of websites, groupwork and community interventions. In addition to groups focused on methods of intervention, GMFA has two groups which work with specific target groups, namely men with HIV and Black gay men.

Stonewall
Stonewall is renowned for its campaigning and lobbying. Some major successes include helping
achieve the equalisation of the age of consent, lifting the ban on lesbians and gay men
serving in the military, securing legislation allowing same-sex couples to adopt and the
repeal of Section 28. More recently Stonewall has helped secure civil partnerships and
ensured the recent Equality Act protected lesbians and gay men in terms of goods and services.
Stonewall also works with a whole range of agencies to address the needs of lesbians, gay men and bisexuals in the wider community. Their Diversity Champions programme offers advice and support to over 250 organisations including IBM, Barclays, Barnardos, DTI and the Royal Navy.
For more information about offering your support to their campaigns, contact Stonewall using the details provided below.

THT (Terrence Higgins Trust)
Volunteers have played an important and central role in the development of THT over the
past 25 years. THT was set up by a group of volunteers who came together to provide
care and support to people who were living with HIV in the face of fear, ignorance,
misinformation and prejudice.
The first step towards becoming a Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) volunteer is to contact a service centre near you. Just call or email your local centre and a volunteer coordinator will help you. There is one volunteer office in London, which coordinates voluntary work across THT's London centres.
