The Sisterhood of Karn
The
Sisterhood of Karn is an Earth-based group of gay people, united by their interest
in Doctor Who and science fiction in general.
The Sisterhood was founded in January 1994 and now has about twenty members in London. There is no membership fee and the gatherings are informal. The sole purpose of the group is the social gathering of like-minded individuals, good conversation, parties etc. Meetings are an opportunity to discuss Doctor Who and related issues without fear of suffering the ridicule and disapprobation that most people face when they come out as Dr Who fans.
In addition to the monthly gatherings, the group holds video evenings in members’ homes, where the group watches one or two Doctor Who stories and discourses on matters of this and other worlds in an attempt to expand the sum total of human knowledge. Occasionally the group has outings, like a visit to the famous location from 'Invasion', where the Cybermen marched down the steps leading from St Paul’s Cathedral.
