Labour


Labour Campaign For Lesbian & Gay Rights

LCLGR Logo Campaigning organisation working within the Labour Party and the trade union movement for full equality. LCLGR’s campaigning has backed up the massive programme of reform which Labour has carried out since coming into government in 1997.

Recently it campaigned for civil partnerships' legislation, employment protection and anti-discrimination legislation in use of goods and services. The LCLGR meets regularly with ministers and officials to advise on legislation. During elections, it campaigns for Labour in the LGBT community. It is a membership organisation, open to any lesbian, gay man, bisexual or transgender person in the Labour movement. LCLGR is formally affiliated to the Labour Party as a socialist society.

Stonewall

Stonewall Logo Stonewall is renowned for its campaigning and lobbying. Some major successes include helping achieve the equalisation of the age of consent, lifting the ban on lesbians and gay men serving in the military, securing legislation allowing same-sex couples to adopt and the repeal of Section 28. More recently Stonewall has helped secure civil partnerships and ensured the recent Equality Act protected lesbians and gay men in terms of goods and services.

Stonewall also works with a whole range of agencies to address the needs of lesbians, gay men and bisexuals in the wider community. Their Diversity Champions programme offers advice and support to over 250 organisations including IBM, Barclays, Barnardos, DTI and the Royal Navy.
