Title: GMFA's Guide To Gay Sports Clubs And Social Groups

Mosaic Youth Project (Brent, Westminster, Harrow, Camden)

Mosaic group logoMosaic LGBT Youth Project provides you with the opportunity to meet other young people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or think they might be, aged 13 to 19, every week in a North West London location. The group provides a space for you to make friends, socialise and take part in activities like theatre and cinema trips.

Mosaic services include: * Youth club * LGBT Library * Sexual health advice * Housing advice * Benefits advice * Education and career advice * Counselling

Mosaic are here to answer all the questions you may have about your sexuality, housing, benefits or education, no matter how big or small your questions are.

You can access the youth group to meet other people just like you, take part in interesting and inspiring workshops, theatre trips and training (if you feel like it). Members of Mosaic suggest what the group does, so by joining you will be able to influence what happens. On Wednesday evenings the group offers you access to computers and an LGBT Library with over a hundred books and DVD’s on subject of sexuality and gender.

If you feel like you are in need of some more support you can ask for a one-2-one meeting with a female or male youth worker. They are here to simply listen to you and be there for you, and they can send you in the right direction if you are looking for professional advice in a specific area. Mosaic has in house career, education and sexual health advisors, plus a counsellor who can help you address your needs in more depth if you wish to do that.

Mosaic’s staff and volunteers are committed to providing you with safe and confidential space.

Youth groups are great places to make your first gay friends. When run properly they are also a very safe space in which to start learning what kind of gay man or woman you want to be. However, please note, the rules and laws governing who can and cannot run a youth group are not perfect. New methods to help you confirm the integrity of people who run youth groups are being introduced over the next couple of years, but for the time being, even if you ask for references, you need to rely on your own judgement to determine whether or not the people running the youth group that you attend are responsible and trustworthy.
