Title: Positive Gay Guide

Relationship support

If you feel that you or your partner need some help with your relationship, or if you are finding it difficult to form new relationships because of HIV, you can always speak to a health adviser at your clinic to see what services they may be able to offer you. These aren’t the only options open to you though.

Bart’s & The London NHS Trust run a free and confidential Sex & Relationships service at Positive East for HIV positive men on Wednesdays from 5pm to 8pm. The service is run by experienced clinical psychologists, and covers difficulties in your sexual relationship, loss of sexual desire, problems with erections, increasing your sexual enjoyment, talking about HIV and improving your relationship. Call 020 7791 2855 to find out more or to make an appointment.

Relate offers advice and relationship counselling regardless of your sexuality. If you want to talk about your relationships past, present or future visit www.relate.org.uk or call Relate Direct on 08451 30 40 16.

For details about any other counselling services that may be available and suitable for your needs, call THT Direct on 0808 802 1221.

If you find that you are having problems with your confidence and self esteem, you may also find it helpful to get some assertiveness training. Again, for help finding something suitable for you, call THT Direct on 0808 802 1221.

You will also find contact details for a whole range of different advice and support services in the section on help & support.
