Booklets for gay men
GMFA produces 'small media' (such as booklets, postcards and leaflets) as part of London's HIV prevention initiatives. This includes two new booklets each year using volunteer input to help create concepts, design and copy. GMFA believes that using volunteers in this way results in booklets which are culturally specific with images and language that gay men can relate to. GMFA produces up to 30,000 copies of these resources, which are distributed on the gay scene, at gay social groups and through sexual health clinics.
GMFA's HIV-prevention booklets cover a range of topics such as using condoms effectively, techniques for better sex, staying HIV-negative, and making sexual health a part of an overall healthy lifestyle.

In addition, we published our guide to gay sports clubs and social groups. London has a vibrant gay scene, but the majority of this scene revolves around pubs and clubs, which encourages high levels of alcohol consumption and impacts on people's ability to stop smoking. The aim of this intervention was to increase the levels of social interaction between gay men away from the commercial gay scene, and to increase the uptake of exercise through sport. The Guide promotes over a hundred social and sport groups as well as encouraging and offering help in setting up new groups. The booklet is supported by the website www.gmfa.org.uk/theguide.
