GMFA needs YOU for World AIDS Day!

This year's World AIDS Day is on Thursday 1 December. The number of events taking place in support of GMFA over the week before World AIDS Day itself is building. We still need more volunteers who have passed public-facing training to volunteer to rattle buckets and hand out ribbons at these events.

If you are able to help out on one or more evenings over the World AIDS Day week, please email michael.flaherty@gmfa.org.uk as soon as possible and let him know which evenings you will be available, and what time you would be able to work until (some events may start and finish fairly early whereas others may go on to the early hours of the morning). He'lll then add you to the list of volunteers that we are putting together and get back to you nearer the time.

Even if you haven't had a chance to do public-facing training then we may still need your help so please let him know and he'll put you on the World AIDS Day reserve list.

We also need volunteers for an event in Waterstones Bookshop. We needs a volunteer/s who has passed public facing training to work alongside a staff member at this event. We will be collecting money, and talking with customers about our HIV prevention work, including Count Me In. If you are available to work all or part of the day on Tues 29th, please contact Matthew or Michael on 020 7738 6872 or email matthew.hodson@gmfa.org.uk.

Robin Windsor Support GMFA at The Shadow Lounge

GMFA launches its 2011 World AIDS Day fundraising campaign with an event at The Shadow Lounge on Wednesday, 23 November. It will be an evening of cabaret and entertainment featuring the inimitable James "Biddie" Biddlecombe, accompanied by Chris Marshall at the piano, and glorious female impersonator and all-round glamour girl Mrs Moore, who will be appearing in 'Snow White and the Seven Poofs' at the Leicester Square Theatre from 1st December.

There will be a celebrity auction, with a very special item donated by Strictly's very own adorable Robin Windsor. Robin will be making a guest appearance at the event to demonstrate his support for GMFA and and will present the item to the highest bidder.

Doors open at 7pm and tickets cost just £10 and include a complementary aperitif on arrival and cicchetti-style buffet (finger food!). Book in advance to ensure your place as tickets are limited. Funds raised go towards continuing the vitally important work that GMFA does for our community in HIV prevention, such as the 'Count Me In' campaign.

For more information and to pre-book your tickets, contact michael.flaherty@gmfa.org.uk

"He's behind you!"

Panto frolics and fundraising in London and Manchester Christmas is fast approaching and that means Panto Season! After the resounding success of last year's production of 'Snow White and the Seven Poofs', SG Productions have plumbed the depths of their immense creativity to bring us TWO pantos this year! Wonders will never cease!

'Snow White and the Seven Poofs' will be returning to the West End's Leicester Square Theatre in a new bigger, bolder production, from 1st December to 28th January 2012, for another season of rude, flirty fun and frolics.

If you're not around for this southern production, SG Productions have taken pity on you and are staging their very own 'Sindafella', a pantomime with balls, which runs at the Dance House, Manchester, from 15 December to 7 January 2012, starring the wonderful Alice Barry, aka Lillian from Shameless, as the fairy godmother.

SG Productions will be holding a raffle at each performance of both pantos in aid of GMFA, with prizes donated by Clone Zone. Simon Gross, director and co-writer of both productions, says: "We're delighted to support GMFA and the important work it does for the gay community around HIV and sexual health."

How to book For tickets to 'Snow White and the Seven Poofs', contact the Leicester Square box office on 08448 733 433 or visit www.leicestersquaretheatre.com. For tickets to 'Sinderfella', contact the Dance House box office on 0161 237 9753.

Count Me In rolls on

Last August saw the launch of a new national phase of the Count Me In campaign funded by CHAPS. In this phase, organisations from around the country are joining GMFA to spread the Count Me In message to more and more people.

The Count Me In campaign has been a huge hit since it launched on World AIDS Day 2010, with thousands of men standing up to be counted. The campaign asks gay men to stop the spread of HIV in their community by signing up to a five-point action plan via the new Count Me In Blog (www.youcancountmein.org.uk).

We have also launched a brand new Count Me In Facebook page. Visit www.facebook.com/youcancountmein for all the latest updates straight to your wall.
